Together with Samsung, the security specialist Blackberry Secusmart has announced a new version of its SecuSuite for Samsung Knox. The target group is, as in the past, also government circles and authorities.Blackberry Secusmart and Samsung deepen their cooperation: The two partners have announced the next generation of the SecuSuite solution for Samsung Knox, a mobile security solution for voice and data encryption on smartphones and tablets.
The new version fits seamlessly into the existing infrastructure of SecuSuite for Blackberry 10 and SecuTablet and is based on the SNS standard of the Federal Office for Security in Information Technology (BSI).
The SecuSuite for Samsung Knox provides the user with all the functions for secure mobile work and secure mobile phone calls, Secumart says. In addition, the personal use of apps is possible in compliance with the high security requirements of the German federal authorities. This also affects Android apps, such as Twitter, Facebook or WhatsApp.
The solution is offered in conjunction with the Galaxy S7, but Secusmart CEO Christoph Erdmann announced that the solution will be marketed with the Galaxy S8, which is due to start shortly. The SecuSuite is also sold in conjunction with the new Samsung tablets, which were presented at the Mobile World Congress.
The target group is, above all, the authorities and government circles - but it is also conceivable to use them in companies, according to Erdmann. However, there is still need for clarification and catching up, as many companies use security solutions in the data communication - but not for telephone calls.
Background: Blackberry and Samsung Knox have been working together for over two years. At CeBIT 2015 the two partners presented a tablet with special requirements for security, at that time IBM was still on board as another partner.
